All Japan [Jr. Tag League Day 1] results for March 30, 2013
All Japan Pro-Wrestling “2013 JUNIOR HYPER TAG LEAGUE [OPENING]“, 3/30/2013 [Sat] 18:00 @ Uodzu…
[Osaka Pro News] In what is a big shake-up in Osaka Pro Wrestling, 6 wrestlers have announced their withdrawal from the promotion.
HAYATA, Orochi, Masamune, Hideyoshi, Kuuga, and Daisuke Harada have all announced their resignation at today’s show at the Nasci Hall Umeda in Osaka. President Yuji Sakue and Vice-President Black Buffalo both acknowledged the announcement.
Kuuga and Harada will remain as wrestlers for Osaka Pro until the 14th Anniversary Show at the IMP Hall on April 29th. As for the other 4 (HAYATA, Orochi, Hideyoshi, Masamune) they are officially classified as freelancer wrestlers following this announcement.
Daisuke Harada announced that he will relinquish the Osaka Pro Championship, as he is the current reigning champion.
There is currently no word on what brought on this announcement, but the first thought, I personally had, is that we could potentially see Atsushi Kotoge and Daisuke Harada reform their tag team of the past in NOAH.
This is not the first time that Osaka Pro has lost a lot of guys at once. 5 guys in 2000 (including Dick Togo), 8 in 2005 (including Ebessan/Kikutaro), and 2008 saw the massive split which formed Okinawa Pro.
Though this “may be” the first time that the champion has announced his resignation in a mass withdraw, and this follows so soon with Osaka Pro just moving their entire promotion to the Nasci Hall in November.
More info will be provided if and when it is known.
There was a honoring ceremony for Reid Flair before the start of the show. Reid passed away yesterday in the USA.

[News] It is being reported by various news sites that Reid Flair (Richard Reid Fliehr), the youngest son of Ric Flair, has passed away at the young age of 25.
Confirmation on Reid’s passing.
http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/Other_News_4/article_69595.shtml
Reid was competing, as well as training, in All Japan for the last 2 months, with his last match in Japan being a tag match on the Ryogoku show on 3/17. Reid went back home to the states soon following that show.
From what I gathered, Reid was doing fine while was in Japan, so if this news is indeed true, then this is very shocking to hear.
My prayers and thoughts go out to the Flair family at this time.
Some personal thoughts…
This is sad to hear in many ways, looking at the photo above I am remember of Reid’s debut match in Japan on January 26. There was a lot of emotion that day, Flair was not able to compete on the show, but Reid would have the opportunity to make his debut in Japan.
I look back at this show and I am remembered with the ending with Leona Fujinami, son of Tatsumi Fujinami, shaking hands with Reid. Sucks to know that we will never get to see that match.

[ZERO1 News] ZERO1 held a press conference to announce some matches that will be taking place on April 15th as well as the headlining match for Masato Tanaka’s 20th Anniversary on May 4th.
A big tag match has been signed for the show on April 15th, that will see the continuation of the ZERO1 vs. Big Japan feud, as Shinjiro Otani teams with Masato Tanaka to take on one of the strongest tag teams in Japan today in Big Japan’s Daisuke Sekimoto and Yuji Okabayashi. Both teams already aim to prove something as the best that Japan has to offer and this match surely has the early makings of an explosive and physical encounter.
With that match determined it was also announced that Masato Tanaka will be celebrating his 20th Anniversary, as a pro wrestler, on May 4th as he takes on Shinjiro Otani. Tanaka nominated Otani as they have nothing but history with one another, Tanaka spent more than half of his later career working along with Otani, and he wants to honor his achievement against someone he knows as much as they know him.
Also announced for the 4/15 show is Steven Walters, from North Carolina, USA, getting a title shot for the Double Junior crown. Walters has been training daily in the ZERO1 Dojo and it is his dream to compete in Japan. He will be looking to come right out the gate with a huge title opportunity.
The last officially announced match for the 4/15 show, at this time, will see the up and comer, Yuhi, taking on a women’s wrestling legend in Manami Toyota. Yuhi has already shown that she has a bright future in a head of her and she will definitely have a chance to further develop her career when she takes on Toyota.
Another match that could be in the works, Shito Ueda has made an open challenge, for himself and Yusaky Obata, to go up against KENSO & Ryoji Sai. Ueda wants a chance to reclaim the Intercontinental tag belts that he and Obata did not lose, forfeit due to injury, and they want to prove themselves as the rightful champions. This potential match could end up determining the next contenders for the tag belts which are currently held by Akebono & Daisuke Sekimoto “ZERO64”.

New Japan Event Cards for March & April 2013

[NJPW News] New Japan announced the full card for the upcoming INVASION ATTACK iPPV for April 7th as well as the lead-in show that will be held on April 5th.
Following his win on March 24th, Kazuchika Okada has once again laid down a claim to another tournament win with the NEW JAPAN CUP, and also the right as the youngest to ever do so (an honor he already held with his victory in the 2012 G1 Climax). Okada has earned himself another title opportunity against the reigning IWGP Heavy Champion in Hiroshi Tanahashi. Of course, Okada already headlined the Tokyo Dome on 1.4 in a losing effort to Tanahashi, though following his win the NJC he appears to have a new found sense of purpose.
The event will be headlined with 2 other title matches with Shinsuke Nakamura looking to defend the IWGP IC against the other half of K.E.S. in Davey Boy Smith Jr. This will mark Nakamura’s 7th defense with the belt as he aims to continue on with his breakthrough reign. First though Nakamura will be going after K.E.S. and their tag team titles as he teams with Tomohiro Ishii on April 5th. Of course this match will be a continuing of the CHAOS vs. Suzuki-gun war.
Following the news of Bruce Tharpe, President of the NWA, stating that he is bringing over a wrestler to compete in NJPW. Satoshi Kojima was the first to challenge the incoming wrestler which has been determined to be the newly crowned NWA Heavyweight Champion, “Iron Man” Rob Conway. Conway has been competing for over 15 years now and is looking to leave his mark in Japan and gain a strong defense as champion in the process.
Yuji Nagata & Hirooki Goto will be joining forces to take on the Laughter7 duo in Kazushi Sakuraba & Katsuyori Shibata. This could potentially be the toughest challenge for Laughter7 yet as there is a lot of history between each man involved. Will Nagata finally be able to pull out a win, with Goto, against the invader team or will Laughter7 once again prove to have fate on their side?
Minoru Suzuki will be looking for revenge against Toru Yano following the 2nd round match of the NEW JAPAN CUP in which Yano walked away with the controversial victory. CHAOS and Suzuki-gun have had nothing but animosity towards each other all throughout this year and “the ultimate invader” Minoru Suzuki will not sit back and let a loss, let alone a “cheap” loss, loom over him. The two will meet in a tag match before the ppv on April 5th, as Suzuki will be teaming with close friend Yoshihiro Takayama as they face the current (NOAH) GHC Tag Champions, Yano and Takashi Iizuka. Takayama of course will be teaming with KENTA in NOAH’s upcoming GLOBAL TAG LEAGUE tournament and will this could become an early look at a possible outcome if KENTA & Takayama managed to win the tag league.
Tomoaki Honma made his surprise return to New Japan in the form of support for Togi Makabe following another attack from Yujiro. The duo use to form G.B.H. (Great Bash Heel) in years prior, but after Honma left NJPW last year Makabe has found himself primarily on his own. No word yet if G.B.H. has truly reformed, but Makabe could really use the aid as they are set to take on Masato Tanaka & Yujiro Takahashi.
Tama Tonga will be defending the CMLL World Tag belts, along with Terrible, against La Mascara & Valiente. NJPW has built a strong relationship with CMLL in the last several years and New Japan is yet again giving a platform for the “lucha libre” style to showcase itself.
Prince Devitt will have a heavy few days in front of him as he will be defending his IWGP Jr. belt against Alex Shelley on 4/5 and then on 4/7 the two will be involved in the IWGP Jr. Tag match. As the reigning champions “TIME SPLITTERS” KUSHIDA & Alex Shelley will defend against “Apollo55” Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi. Devitt has been on edge over the last month and has been showing plenty of “heel attitude” like tendencies against his opponents. With a huge challenge set before him, will Devitt’s new persona manifest itself over these two shows, or will it prove to have been nothing more than Devitt just looking to blow off some steam.
Below are the event cards for the upcoming shows in April.
