New Japan Pro-Wrestling (新日本プロレス, Shin Nihon Puroresu) is a major professional wrestling promotion in Japan, founded by Antonio Inoki in 1972 and is under YUKE`S [Future Media Creators] who maintain the controlling stock of the company. NJPW holds a lot of it success as being the top promotion in Japan with a television deal with TV Asahi.
NJPW has been known for openly engaging in working agreements with various MMA and pro wrestling promotions around the world, including: World Wrestling Entertainment, World Championship Wrestling, Total Nonstop Action [TNA] Wrestling, WAR, Ring of Honor, PRIDE Fighting Championships, as well as multiple promotions from within Japan from ZERO1, DDT, Pro Wrestling NOAH, and others.
On February 31st, it was announced that NJPW would be completely sold to Bushiroad. Bushiroad is known for being a collectible card game company, that has connections in anime and video games as well. The new chairman of the promotion Takaaki Kidani is said to be a huge fan of pro wrestling and has high hopes in re-building up, of sorts, for the promotion.
