SITE NEWS

As every August I will once again be away for 10 days this month starting on August 8th through August 19th. What this means is that all news and results may not be regularly covered during my absence. I have a couple people who may help out if time permits, but I do not expect anyone else to carry the load that I normally undertake. I will try and update anything if I have wifi access, but normally that is hard to come by in the locations where I will be. Thank you all for understanding and also for your continued support.

JOSHI NEWS

~ Misaki Ohata announced that she will be retiring at the end of this year. This follows the previous news that she was engaged fellow wrestler Makoto Oishi earlier this Summer.

~ Also in regards to WAVE, Yumi Oka will be taking over duties of WAVE as of April of 2019. The promotion will be going on a couple month hiatus after their final show of this year on December 29th at the Korakuen Hall. Which Oka looks to bring the promotion back with a “new wave” in the form of a fresh start. It appears that GAMI will be staying with the promotion in direct support role.

News Listings for July 31, 2018

AJPW NEWS

Several updates were announced for the August tour of shows.

Yohei Nakajima was announced to miss the “Jr. TAG BATTLE OF GLORY” due to a personal boycott of the league, as well as citing differences with Black Tiger VII, as Black Menso~re was announced to be teaming with Black Tiger VII instead. The junior tag league will begin on August 3rd in Yokohama.

The World Tag and Asia Heavyweight belts were announced to be in defense on August 18th at the Korakuen Hall. With Suwama and Shuji Ishikawa defending the World Tag belts against the Kento Miyahara and Yoshitatsu. Then The Bodyguard will be making his first defense of the Asia Heavyweight belt against Naoya Nomura.

The tour will culminate on August 26th in Chiba with three major title matches. As Zeus makes his first defense of the Triple Crown belt against Shuji Ishikawa. With Zeus looking to prove himself as a defending champion and Ishikawa seeking to become a 5-crown champion, that is if he can first defend the tag belts on 8/18. Then Atsushi Aoki will once more put the World Junior belt on the line against Koji Iwamoto. This match stems from Aoki suffering a direct loss to Iwamoto in an 8 man tag match on July 29th in Osaka. Then  Naoya Nomura and Yuma Aoyagi will defend their newly acquire Asia Tag belts against the “Axe Bombers” team of Takao Omori and Isami Kodaka.

Sanshiro Takagi announced that after the August 10th show in Kitazawa that DNA (DDT New Attitude) will be pausing all events for the time being. All of the wrestlers under the DNA will be allowed to choose between competing for DDT, BASARA, and Ganbare.

MASTERS NEWS

A couple more matches were announced for the August 21st show at the Korakuen Hall, with a special singles match and a lucha libre style showdown taking place.

The single match will feature Yoshiaki Fujiwara taking on Ishinriki. The master grappler will be taking on a former sumo wrestler turned pro-wrestler.

Then the lucha match will feature the masked man combination of Kendo, Shiryu and SATO against the Tokyo Gurentai team of NOSAWA Rongai, MAZADA and FUJITA.

It was announced official that not one but two new rookies will be making their debut on the upcoming “DEPARTURE 2018” show on August 5th. They are as follows…

Kinya Okada (岡田欣也) Born November 17, 1992 from Osaka City and Pref., Height 178cm and Weight currently at 103kg. His athletic background is in Taekwondo and Amateur Wrestling. He began training in the dojo in August of 2017.

Yoshiki Inamura (稲村愛輝) Born November 18, 1992 from Otawara City, Tochigi Pref., Height 180cm and Weight currently at 105kg. His athletic background is in Judo, Sumo, and Gakusei (Student) Wrestling.  He began training in the dojo in September of 2017.

Both trainees have been in the dojo for close to a year. This was noted as both were working in their previous job field while they attempted to make the transition over to full-time pro-wrestlers. Junta Miyawaki was the last rookie to debut just a year prior.

~ It was announced that Jun Tonsho has moved from Pro-Wrestling ACE to being a full-time member of W-1. The 19 year old Tonsho was a member of the first training school under W-1 in 2015 and made his debut in March of 2016. Though currently on the skinnier side he has looked to have garnered Kaz Hayashi’s attention and has become a protege of sorts to president and head trainer on W-1.
