◆Winner: Liger (21:12) following a Vertical Drop style Brainbuster on Kumano.
~ 2nd successful title defense.
~ Ishimori and Kotoge came out to challenge the champions.
~ It appears their challenge to the champions was switched as Liger asked for them to prove themselves in singles competition against them first.

(8) GHC Heavyweight Championship Match: [19th Champion] KENTA vs. [Challenger] Mikey Nicholls
◆Winner: KENTA (23:05) with the GAME OVER.
~ 7th successful title defense.
~ KENTA withstood both members of TMDK.
~ Katsuhiko Nakajima came out to express himself as the next worthy contender for KENTA.

NOAH’s next big show will be “GREAT VOYAGE 2013 in YOKOHAMA vol. 2” which is scheduled to take place on October 5th. It appears we may the main event title match set.

[NOAH News] Pro Wrestling NOAH held a press conference for the upcoming GHC Heavyweight Championship match between KENTA and Mikey Nicholls on September 16th.

Following his succussful defense over Shane Haste on September 7th, KENTA will be moving on to take on the other half of TMDK and the other half of the reigning GHC Tag Champions in Mikey Nicholls on the 16th. KENTA continues to prove that he is the fighting champion that NOAH needs at this time, even though he gives up a lot in size. Nicholls has been competing in the ring for over 10 years now and this could prove to be one of his biggest matches to date, at least in Japan. Nicholls has already gotten the upper hand over KENTA on multiple occasions now, more specifically with a win over here back August 17th and just yesterday by taking him out during the scheduled tag match on September 8th.

It should be interesting to note that if KENTA does manage to beat Nicholls as well as that should very well put him up there as the top contender for the GHC Tag belts as well. KENTA has stated in the past that he wanted another opportunity for them. Of course, we will have to wait and see what transpires on the 16th before anything can be set.

The GHC Jr. Tag belts will also be on the line as the NJPW Veteran Duo in Liger and Tiger Mask IV take on Daisuke Harada and NOAH’s young rookie in Hitoshi Kumano. Harada has already already pulled a huge upset in pinning Liger in less than minute on the 9/7 show, and you have to know that Liger is not going to take that loss lightly. Kumano may appear the weak link in the match, but the young rookie is aiming to be called the new “Iron Man” in Japan and is willing to fight through thick and thin to prove himself.

[NOAH/Takayama Update] Yoshihiro Takayama returns to action later this month on Sept. 16. Takayama has been out due to a dislocated shoulder since June 3, and after spending the last 3 months on the sideline is ready to return to competition.

In an odd turn of events, because of said injury, Takayama ended up missing his 20th Anniversary match that was scheduled at the end of June.
Takayama will though be a apart of Jun Akiyama’s 20th Anniversary match on September 17, as he teams with fellow Suzuki-gun/NO MERCY teammates in Minoru Suzuki & Maybach Taniguchi as they take on Akiyama, NJPW’s Yuji Nagata & Go Shiozaki.
Takayama mentioned that he is aiming to take over Akiyama’s Anniversary, and then carrying the momentum into claiming both the GHC & IWGP Heavy Tag belts.
Takayama will be celebrating his 46th Birthday just a few days following on Sept. 19, so he is looking to get back into the thick of things fairly quickly.

[WNC Event Cards/News] Wrestling New Classic will be holding 5 shows pretty much back to back to start out the month of August.
The upcoming shows will play off of the new “heel faction” of AKIRA, Starbuck & Kana. AKIRA began it all after having a fall out with TAJIRI, Starbuck was much the same with Hajime Ohara, and then Shuri turned on Kana. This has caused a major rift within the promotion and it should be interesting to see what comes about.
