His diagnosis was a heat stroke that was brought on by dehydration. He underwent a more thorough examination on 6/4 to which he was found to have suffered chipped bone and fracture in his neck. He was noted to have been suffering from issues with his breathing, which is why they checked his chest and neck, and thus they found the problem after more tests. Harold George Meij, former Representative President & CEO of Takara-Tomy, has been named the new President of New Japan Pro-Wrestling as of June 1.
In Takara-Tomy, the 54 year old from Netherlands, was in charge of marketing for the foreign market and overseer in regards to the launching of new brands. It should also be noted that he was also the Vice President of Cola-Cola Japan in 2006 before joining Takara-Tomy. Kidani has put full faith in Meij to lead New Japan forward into their international expansion.
News was made public that Ayako Hamada was previously arrested in regards to the use of stimulant drugs. Which during today’s WAVE show in Tokyo, it was formally announced that her contract with the promotion was canceled.
Personal note: I know what is being said on twitter, but until something is officially announce I refuse to use that platform for a tell-all. Though from my personal knowledge, stimulants in Japan can be something in the effect of prescription drugs, not authorized in Japan are considered stimulants, or even something like cocaine, etc. Japan has a no toleration policy for the unauthorized use of drugs, so it will be just a wait and see in regards to how this may work against her any further.
Site update: Posts may be staggered for the next two weeks as I also cover sumo wrestling during the main tournaments that takes place every other month. If you have interest in keeping up with sumo or want to know more about in general feel free to join “The Sumo Ring” facebook page.

In addition to that show, Kengo Mashimo and KAI will indeed be teaming together, after KAI’s request to Mashimo, as the two will be taking on the current World Tag Champions Zeus and The Bodyguard in a non-title match. Which the World Tag Champions will be first defending the World Tag belts against the team of Jake Lee and Naoya Nomura on May 12 in Osaka.
Hikaru Sato managed to recapture the World Junior belt and will be putting it on the line against the mysterious Black Tiger VII for his first defense on May 21. Hikaru managed to bring the belt back home after the last 8 months of the belt being held by an outside talent. This brings up to Black Tiger VII who proclaimed that a major conspiracy exists with All Japan and even WRESTLE-1 and that the pro-wrestling world is in danger. That he aims to save the entirety of Japan and become a champion that will preserve what needs to be done. That he would even join All Japan in order to protect it if that is what he must do.
Then following the conclusion of the Carnival, both Jake Lee and Naoya Nomura emerged with victories over the World Tag Champions. As the two will be receiving a chance to challenge for the belts on May 12. Lee has already challenged for the belts in the past, but this will mark Nomura’s very first ever challenge for them. The two acknowledged that the “Buig Guns” are a formidable team when together, but they are part of “NEXTREAM” aim to that they can work together as well. The two are very confident going into the match and are eager to finally hold a strong position within All Japan.

New Japan announced the full card for the upcoming LION’S GATE show that will be held on April 13 at the Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo.
The main event for the show will feature a teacher and student match-up as Yuji Nagata teaming with Tomoyuki Oka to take on Manabu Nakanishi and Katsuya Kitamura. Oka who shares parallels to Nagata and Kitamura who has been dubbed Nakanishi II will both be in their first career main event as they look to prove themselves with the New Japan hierarchy.
Then K-DOJO’s new generation ace and new top student of TAKA Michinoku’s in Ayato Yoshida will be teaming with his fellow teammate, though small but powerfulm Dinosaur Takuma to take on the veteran and champion team of Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima. Then a special challenge singles match was announced as FREEDOMS’ Toru Sugiura will make his first appearance ever in a New Japan ring to take on YOSHI-HASHI. Toru has been a hidden talents within the confines of the Tokyo independent scene, but now it is in his favor to show that to the mainstream.
Then two of the young talents from All Japan in Koji Iwamoto and Yuma Aoyagi will be taking on the veteran team of Jado and Gedo. Aoyagi has previously competed in New Japan back in the “SUPER J-CUP” though with a losing effort against Taichi in the first round. Iwamoto, much like Toru, was also a hidden gem within the indie scene as he has earned a position with All Japan just this year.
Then as for the New Japan talent themselves, Hirai Kawato will be receiving a special singles challenge against a former young lion in El Desperado. The two have been at odds in the recent tours, but Kawato has stood his ground as much as he is able. Even almost claiming several near-falls over the more experienced wrestler.
Then the opening match will feature New Japan’s latest young lion making his debut in Shota Umino. As his name sort of suggests, he is the son of New Japan’s head referee Red Shows Unno, but to save from any confusion he will be altering the pronunciation itself. Boasting a taller frame at 183cm, the future heavyweight hopeful will be taking on TAKA Michinoku in his first ever match.
Shota Umino 海野翔太
Born: April 17, 1997 from Setagaya-ku, Tokyo
Height: 183cm Weight: 93kg
Began training in NJPW back in March of 2016. Son of referee Red Shoes Unno レッドシューズ海野.

Ryuichi Kawakami announced that he will be making his return to the ring at the big Ryogoku show on July 24. Let alone with a single match against Daisuke Sekimoto.
Kawakami has been battling a severe ACL injury to his left knee, even though he last competing at Genichiro Tenryu’s retirement show on 11/15. Kawakami stated that he is still not 100% following the surgery but the anxiety is getting to him to make a return to the ring. Noting that he is fully aware of Hideyoshi Kamitani and Daichi Hashimoto are looking to overtake him in breaking through the Strong BJ division first. This has built up his impatience as he was working hard before the injury to become a new leader of the division.
With his return, he also stated that he has lost weight as he has focused on muscle mass and shedding body fat. This has put him at 98kg at this time, apposed to the 105kg he used to weigh before. He is fully aware of what he will face by taking on Sekimoto first thing, but that he has put in a lot of work to further improve his skills and even has alluded to a new move that is in the works. His only goal is to once more continue to climb to the apex of Strong BJ.

~ All Japan formally announced that Atsushi Aoki will be defending the World Junior Heavyweight belt against Masashi Takeda on 5/22 at Korakuen and Yohei Nakajima will be defending the GAORA TV belt against Kazuhiro Tamura on 6/9 in Isesaki.
Takeda has been spot competing in All Japan for the last couple months and immediately made it known that seeks a match against Aoki in the future. The two have met in tag matches, but a one-on-one challenge has alluded him. This will mark the first time that the two will meet in a singles match. Aoki just defended the World Jr. belt against Kaji Tomato on 5/7 in Chiba and no challenger was determined following. Takeda took this opportunity to then make the open challenge to the All Japan office. Takeda is a proven MMA grappler and fighter outside of his current dedication to the deathmatch style of pro-wrestling.
Kazuhiro Tamura will be getting a shot at the GOARA TV belt on 6/9. He originally called out for a shot on the 4/18 show as Yohei accepted the challenge. Tamura has been competing along with Takao Omori in the revived “Axe Bombers” group along with the Asia Tag Champions, Yuko Miyamoto and Isami Kodaka. Also announced for the 6/9 show is Kento Miyahara teaming with Jake Lee to take on K-DOJO’s Kengo Mashimo and Tank Nagai. Mashimo has been vying for a shot at the Triple Crown belt, which is held by Miyahara, and this looks to be very well be leading to that.

Two more title matches have been formally announced for the upcoming show at Korakuen on June 8.
First up KAI will be making his first defense of the W-1 Championship against the now “super rookie” in Shotaro Ashino. Ashino claimed a direct win over a former champion in Manabu Soya on the 5/8 show in a 3WAY match to earn his first ever singles title opportunity. Ashino, who only made his debut a year and four months ago, has quickly made himself a standout with his serious nature and presence in the ring.
Ashino did not hesitate to say that he is completely against this “free” attitude that KAI has turned to in recent. He stated that the belt is far too important for it to be on someone with a questionable attitude. As he see’s KAI as nothing more than a stupid joke at this point. Ashino’s self-confidence is at an all-time high as he heads into the title match, but in the past her is currently 2-0 against KAI in singles matches. Though he wants to make it clear that he is getting stronger every single match and his evolution as a pro-wrestler is imminent.
Then it was announced that Yuji Hino and KAZMA SAKAMOTO would be defending the W-1 Tag belts against the team of Yasufumi Nakanoue and BJW’s Yuji Okabayashi. Nakanoue claimed a win over REAL DESPERADO on 5/8 and made an appeal for a shot at the tag belts along with Okabayashi. Nakanoue has been spot competing in BJW when not on tour in W-1 along with Okabayashi.
The champions took part in a press conference to acknowledge their acceptance of the match as they have said that this will be Nakanoue’s last chance for the belts, as long as they remain champions. As he has already fallen to the champion team in the past, namely last month on 4/28 when he teamed with Seiki Yoshioka. Yuji Hino and Yuji Okabayashi have quite the history though as in 2014 they formed the team “Double Yuji” during the big “New Year’s Even Pro-Wrestling” show that received a strong reception from those in attendance. Hino appears to have respect for Okabayashi, but not really any for Nakanoue as he stated that he and KAZMA shall prevail in the end.
