Okada participated in both baseball and track while in School and he even held a record in the 100-meter dash for the Aichi Prefecture. Okada had a yearning to try his hand at professional wrestling and at the age of 16 enrolled in Ultimo Dragon’s Toryumon and went on to be in the 13th Class of students trained by Ultimo Dragon. He would go on to make his professional debut on August 29th, 2004 at the age of 16 against Negro Navarro. He would participate in his first tournament in December of the same year. He would face Toshiya Matsuzaki in the opening round and pick up the win, in the second round he would face off and defeat against Fujita “Jr” Hayato, and then to cap it off he would face Hajime Ohara and go on to win the tournament. Okada would be the youngest winner of the Young Dragon’s Cup at the age of 17.
On July 22nd, 2007 Okada would participate in Ultimo Dragon’s 20th Anniversary Show with the names of Jushin Thunder Liger & Milano Collection A.T. from NJPW. Following the match it was announced that Okada had graduated Toryumon and would be moving up to join NJPW. On August 27th, Okada would make his pre-debut on the “LAST OF CTU” show as he faced off against Tetsuya Naito though this is not his actual debut it was his first time competing for NJPW.
His official debut would come almost a year later on April 12th, 2008 as he faced Taichi Ishikara.

On December of 2011 it would be announced that Okada would make his official return to NJPW as a full time active wrestler. On January 4th, 2012 he would make his return on the biggest stage of NJPW “WRESTLE KINGDOM VI” as he faced off against another returning talent YOSHI-HASHI (Nobuo Yoshihashi). Okada showed a whole new character “The Rainmaker”. With the gimmick came a new attitude as well as a new flashy look. Okada would pick up the victory in the match. Then later on that night came out down to the ring and challenged the Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
