Tomorrow starts the two day Champions Gate Double Header in Osaka. All three of the major titles in DG will be defended over the two days with the Triangle Gate being defended on the first night. Here is just a little preview of some of the major matches and storylines going into the weekend.
2) Akira Tozawa Vs Chihiro Tominaga
This will be the biggest match for “super rookie” Chihiro Tominaga, who has been getting A LOT of fan support and buzz since his debut late last year. Tozawa of course is now the lead heel of the newly named faction “Mad Blankey” and will obviously squash Tominaga here. The real question is whether anything else comes out of this match…
3) CIMA, Dragon Kid Vs PAC, Rich Swann
This of course is the warmup match before the big Dream Gate match between champ CIMA and challenger PAC. Im going on a limb (not really) to say that the finish will probably be PAC over Dragon Kid…
4) Jimmi Susumu, Jimmi KAGETORA Vs BxB Hulk, Cyber Kong
This is the precursor to another Name match in the ever growing feud between the “Jimmis” and Blood Warriors now Mad Blankey. I’ll write a little more of my thoughts on the actual name match for tomorrow’s preview but I think what happens in this match will greatly affect the outcome of tomorrow’s match.
5) Open the Brave Gate Championship Match: Ricochet © Vs Naruki Doi
This will be Ricochet’s second defense and it’s a doozy. On the opposite side of the ring from him is the original Brave Gate Champion as well as one of two men to really establish the Brave Gate title in DG (the other would arguably be Masato Yoshino). Doi last held the Brave Gate title briefly in 2009 when he defeated CIMA in a title vs title match, but it was his first reign as champ way back in 2005 that not only established the Brave Gate title but also established Doi as an up and coming star for DG. Obviously Doi really doesn’t need the Brave Gate title, though he hasn’t really been anywhere near the “main event” status since his run as Dream Gate champ back in 2008 either. Yet I don’t think winning the Brave Gate will help Doi as much as it will increase the rising star that is Ricochet. Also with Ricochet vanquishing former three time Brave Gate champion Masato Yoshino in his first defense, Ricochet is looking to have a pretty strong run as Brave Gate champion.
6) Open the Triangle Gate Decision Match: Masaaki Mochizuki, Don Fujii, Gamma Vs Ryo Saito, Genki Horiguchi, Yasushi Kanda
This match was made after Naoki Tanizaki had to vacate the Triangle Gate title for his team due to injuries. This will be an interesting match as both teams are not super familiar with every member in their team. Gamma has had a long running feud with Mochizuki but just recently both had agreed to work with each other due to the overwhelming force of Mad Blankey and the disbanding of Junction Three. Kanda was recently kicked out of Mad Blankey (Blood Warriors) but saved by Maraha Issapa. The Jimmis hinted that Kanda is not a man to be trusted (which his track record kinda supports that) BUT they also may have said that out of spite due to Maraha Issappa turning down their offer to join forces. We shall see what goes down, if maybe Kanda or even Gamma (he has a habit too) are really just secret agents of Mad Blankey in a scheme to get the Triangle Gates back on Akira Tozawa’s side.
