Sorry about the lack of posts here on the website, but it is so much simpler for me to communicate on the facebook page when it comes to information and news.
As many of you know that have talked to me, I have been hinting to the news that SMASH may be on the verge of closing within the end of the year. Well the news has certainly come sooner than expected and on March 14 the SMASH FINAL show will take place. This March will also mark the 2nd Year Anniversary for SMASH. TAJIRI says that he hopes the two last shows (SMASH.24 on 2.19 and SMASH FINAL on 3.14) will have continued success with fans who attend as what they have comes to expect will not be changing for the shows. TAJIRI in other words is looking to go out strong.
Now I can see a lot of people going “how is SMASH closing they have been doing well at shows?”. Sadly, there is a lot more to it than that, the earthquake, poor economy, and not all the ventures of SMASH as a “company” was able to capitalize on their MMA Division.
Something else I noticed is that it could just be a hiatus for “pro wrestling” side of SMASH, or until they can rebuild the funds to begin again. TAJIRI is well known in the wrestling business and even has many talents looking to work with him. So in March all of the talent will be going freelance, but with TAJIRI’s connections with Genichiro Tenryu, NJPW, AJP, and many other promotions. I am sure things will be alright for those who have recently debuted under SMASH and who have been their since the beginning.
With some many negatives it is worth more to see the positives, and who knows what may come about soon after the close of SMASH. The talent are not going away just the name.
