Takeshi Rikio formally announced his retirement from professional wrestling at NOAH’s big show last Sunday (11/27) at Differ Ariake.
Rikio was last slated to compete against Togi Makabe for the IWGP Championship in July of 2010, but Rikio was forced out of action that late May due to suffering the effects of a cervical herniated disc.
Rikio has been continuing on with his rehabilitation and training to return to the ring, but due to Doctor’s orders it seems it would be wise for him to retire.
Takeshi Rikio’s biggest victory in NOAH, was when he defeated Kenta Kobashi to win the GHC Heavyweight Championship on March 5th, 2005.
Part 1 & Part 2
No matter how you feel about Rikio he was still one of the top wrestlers in the promotions, and this is definitely another loss to the NOAH roster.
[AJP News & Card Update] All Japan announced new matches to happen on the December 4th, which will also be the final show for the 2011 Tag League.
On top of the finals for the tag league happening a very interesting 6 Man Tag match has been signed for the event which will see “the current Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion” Jun Akiyama teaming with fellow NOAH talent Taiji Ishimori as well as “the World Junior Heavyweight Champion” Kenny Omega as they take on the team of Keiji Mutoh, Shuji Kondo & BUSHI.
I know I have heard a few people here on the page mentioning that they would not mind seeing Jun Akiyama vs. Keiji Mutoh for the Triple Crown and you know this could be an early look at a possible singles match up.
Hiroshi Yamato and Hikaru Sato have been at odds for this past year and coming up on the fourth will be the third match in their series. Both currently hold victories over one another and this should definitely be the match to finally settle the score.
Then finally AKIRA will be making a return to singles action in the AJP ring as he will be taking on up and comer Yasufumi Nakanoueno. AKIRA has been the rookie breaker and a strong judge of talent as of late, especially since joining SMASH and Nakanoueno has been fighting to finally make his breakout. So this match should be aiming as a major test for the young talent.

[NOAH News] Following the big NOAH show yesterday, the next GHC Heavyweight Championship match has been determined to take place on January 22nd, 2012.
After close to a 30 minute battle, Go Shiozaki managed to solidify his reign even further by putting KENTA down for the 3 count. Following the match the #1 contender, following his Global League 2011 victory, Takeshi Morishima appeared and rightfully challenged Shiozaki for the belt.
These two have had a back and forth yea over one another. Back on June 11th, Shiozaki defeated Morishima to become the #1 contender for the GHC belt and go on to win it in July. Morishima though would get the win back as he defeated Shiozaki in the Global League on Nov. 6th. (Wait 6/11 and 11/6, interesting …)
Well with the start of the new year, these two will have the chance to settle the current split (1-1) in wins over one another.

Today Nov. 29th, marks the 39th Birthday for Minoru Tanaka. Minoru is a 4 time IWGP Jr., 5 time IWGP Jr. Tag Champion, as well as a former All Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Champion. He has had much success in his career from what you can see and he still proves to this day that he is far from hanging up the tights anytime soon.
In honor of his Birthday, I posted a few videos from throughout his career and so did many others.
11/29 also marked Hayabusa’s 43rd Birthday. So just as I posted something for Minoru Tanaka last night, so shall I for Hayabusa as well.
As many of you know Hayabusa suffered a career ending injury in Oct. of 2001, but in the late 90’s Hayabusa pretty much built himself as one of the must see wrestlers in Japan. A mixture of strength, high flying, as well as a will to take punishment and keep fighting on. Hayabusa wrestled all over the world and there is no telling where he would be if he was still able to compete today.
So in the link below you can see the initial post as well as many matches from his career in the comments.
One of the most iconic Junior Heavyweights in the world today (11/30), Jushin Thunder Liger turned 47 years old today.
Liger has held championships from all over the world. He has most notably been an 11 time IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion, 5 time IWGP Jr. Tag Champion, he has held NOAH’s GHC Jr. belt, CMLL Middleweight belt, and the WCW Light Heavyweight Championship. Liger has pretty much seen it all in his 27+ year career as professional wrestler.
You can currently find Liger competing in CMLL in Mexico and he is slated to return back to NJPW for Wrestle Kingdom VI on 1/4/2012.
In the link below you will see the initial post as well as a few matches posted by myself, as well as I hope from others that had show what Liger has offered to professional wrestling.
[SMASH News] SMASH.24 will be happening on Dec. 30th, and today SMASH has announced a few matches to be happening at the event.
The main event for the show has been announced as the new SMASH Champion aka the “King of Terror” Dave Finlay is looking to continue his dominating path in SMASH as he is bringing in two wrestlers from Europe, from the Turkish Power Wrestling, Murat Bosporus & Big Boy. Murat (170cm, 100kg) is a known for his strength (he is known to bench 230kg) as well as his ability to take to the air. Big Boy is 195cm tall and weighs in at 248kg and is pretty much a brick wall in the ring. Finlay’s team will be taking on TAJIRI, Hajime Ohara, and an unnamed partner. TAJIRI & Ohara seem to have the odds stacked against them, but TAJIRI has mentioned that he has in mind to bring in a big name Japanese wrestler.
Another big match that was announced is the involvement of Big Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Ryuji Ito, Yoshihito Sasaki & Shinya Ishikawa. Ishikawa has competed in previous SMASH shows, but this marks a first for both Ito & Sasaki. The BJW Team will be taking on AKIRA, Yusuke Kodama & YO-HEY and this could make for a decent clash of talents.
The new SMASH Diva’s champion, Tomoka Nakagawa and the former champion Kana will be teaming together as they face off against Makoto & Lin Bairon in a hardcore match.
Also following the debut of Koji Doi here just recently, another young talent will be debuting at SMASH.24 in 19 year old Jiro Kuroshio, and he will be facing off against Doi in a rookie showdown.

[NOAH News] Following the announcement for the next GHC Championship match on 1/22/2012, a special tag team match has been announced to lead into the championship match.
Coming up on Dec. 15th, the current GHC Heavyweight Champion, Go Shiozaki will be teaming with, the current Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion, Jun Akiyama to take on the team of, the #1 contender for the GHC, Takeshi Morishima and, former GHC Heavy Champion and Triple Crown Champion, Kensuke Sasaki.
With four top key players in one tag match this is sure to be something explosive.
Also previously announced for the show is Kotaro Suzuki & Atsushi Aoki defending the GHC Jr. Tag belts against Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste.

[LEGEND News] A few matches have been announced for the first LEGEND show in 2012. This show will mark the first anniversary for LEGEND and for the event the main headlining tag match has been announced as Tatsumi Fujinami and Mitsuya Nagai will be teaming to take on the teacher/student duo of Yoshiaki Fujiwara & Yuki Ishikawa. This match will easily come down to a pure technical match-up and should be interesting to watch.
Also with what has been previously announced, with Riki Choshu vs. Daichi Hashimoto & The Original Tiger Mask vs. El Samurai, this looks to be a solid event all around.

[ZERO1] The blocks and matches for the ZERO1 Furinkazan Tag League 2011 have been announced.
The teams have been split with 5 per block with the team with the most wins going on to the final match. The tournament will begin on Dec. 8th and will run to Dec. 18th when the final matches are set to take place.
[NJPW 12.4 Card Update] NJPW’s final PPV of 2011 will be happening on Dec. 4th. Whoever comes out as the champions following this event will be moving on to headline NJPW’s biggest event of the year WRESTLE KINGDOM VI on Jan. 4th, 2012.
Today NJPW held a Press Conference for the upcoming big event on 12/4, with a couple matches being shifted around as we will now be seeing the reunion of TenKoji (Tenzan & Kojima) as they take on the CHAOS team of Iizuka & Saito.
Tenzan & Iizuka have spent the later half of this year at odds with one another stemming from Tenzan injuring Kojima on the final day of the G1 Climax. Since then they have both been back and forth with each other. Though after underhanded attacks from Iizuka & CHAOS, Tenzan and Kojima have come out to aid one another. At first it seemed like a one off, but after repeated attacks following matches the run in’s to save each other kept happening. So after so long of animosity towards one another it seems they have come to a determing goal that together they are a lot stronger. So come 12/4 one of the most popular teams in the last decade for NJPW will once again be brought together.
Keep on a look out in the next few days as I will try and post a more detailed preview/rundown for the entire event.
